Dushyant Pawar, the founder of the FAR Foundation, hails from a normal family and had quite a regular upbringing. His father, a veteran, and his mother, a teacher, always taught him the value in giving back to others. Since he was a young boy he has felt called to help people – whether it is through volunteering, his future career in financial planning, or just being a helpful son to his parents. As far back as his mother can remember he has spoken about his want to give back to society, no matter what it took.
Creating a positive impact in the world is something that is incredibly important to Dushyant and is his reason for creating FAR. His professional and educational background both speak to his ability to work under pressure and his commitment to making positive changes. His schooling began at one of the most renowned boarding schools in India, Mayo College Ajmer. This school encourages students, like Dushyant, to persevere through anything in an effort to feel fulfilled. Mayo College focuses on community service within the school, in and around the city, and at a global level. They want students to feel social responsibility by participating in service projects. It is here that our founder really learned how to work hard and give back through volunteer-based extracurriculars. Soon, he moved on to Michigan State University to obtain his undergraduate degree in finance. He went through rigorous coursework and internships in an effort to better his life and in turn, better the lives of those around him. Professionally, he has been a committed worker at multiple financial institutions. He enjoys using his knowledge in the space to induce change in other areas of people's lives. Additionally, he has been a resident assistant at his university. In this role, he works directly with students to help them adjust to college life. Through his work as an RA and his direct contact with students, he has found a ton of inspiration for FAR. Dushyant is a committed, intelligent leader who consistently works to provide assistance to anyone he can, including the users of FAR.
Inspiration Story: FAR was created when two long-time family friends – Dushyant Pawar, Samiksha Dahiya and Luvkesh Saroha – bonded over their love for helping others. Dushyant Pawar, the founder of FAR, has a strong commitment to giving back. His education in finance at Michigan State University has helped him help others by connecting the dots needed to provide financial backing for projects. Co-founder, Samiksha Dahiya and Luvkesh Saroha, is currently obtaining thier law degree in an effort to give back to the underprivileged. Their goal is to provide free, voluntary services to those in need of legal counsel.
While in college, the three friends noticed a distinct rise in the popularity of social media. Through this, they also witnessed the rise in medical issues happening at the events people were posting. Heart attacks and other medical failures seemed to be a real issue at parties, in the gym, at performances, and elsewhere. While bystanders could easily post these life-threatening attacks, they seemed to be unable to do anything else. Everyone was helpless. Due to this, victims were dying on the spot. There was a severe absence of basic first aid knowledge by the general public. Typically, victims would only get help once an ambulance arrived on the scene. Dushyant and Samiksha saw this issue and needed to find a solution. So, they decided to create a new application where those with first aid knowledge and healthcare professionals could provide basic guidance over the phone while ambulances were on the way! The app sets up a command center that operates 24/7. When an emergency happens and the ambulance is on the way, there is a critical piece of time when the patient needs to be treated. Bystanders can go to the FAR app and connect with a knowledgeable medical professional. This professional can then guide a bystander through the process of first aid and potentially save the patient's life. Dushyant and Samiksha want everyone to feel confident in their ability to take action during a scary situation, instead of being a bystander that takes a video for social media. The first few moments after a heart attack or other emergency medical issues are extremely imperative to the survival of the victim. If nothing is done, their life can be lost. The FAR app provides a solution to this issue and ensures the safety and well-being of people everywhere.
