Good day, My name is Sandra Openshaw, about 4 years ago I was living with a family who have a severely handicapped son. His daily struggles to do the simplest tasks like feeding himself touched my heart and inspired me to create this organisation to help where I could. The saddest thing is that he is one of the lucky ones, with a good family support structure. Many disabled people are not so lucky, especially in the disadvantaged communities in South Africa I then realised, after doing some research, that there is very little help out there for these people. There are a few organisations that cater to disease specific disability like muscular dystrophy etc, however virtually none when the disability is caused by injury or accident. These people need help too. the aim of Handicapped Solutions is to provide things they cannot afford for themselves that will improve their quality of life. Things like. wheelchairs, walkers, therapies, caregivers and even employment regardless of cause of the disability. I have a unique skill set that can really make a difference. I have over 30 years experience in the Charity fundraising field, working for various charities as a fundraiser. I also have a diploma in office management. I am very experienced with admin and fundraising. I believe I have been called to use my knowledge and skill set to improve the lives of physically handicapped people across South Africa. This is a very neglected and overlooked sector of our society and I believe that with your help we can change lives. Please help me to empower them to reach their maximum potential.
