COVID-19 impacted the whole world, but it didn't necessarily impact everyone evenly. The ones that felt the negative effects of COVID-19 disproportinately were people from rural areas that have no access to 21st-century industries like IT. To mitigate the unfavorable effects of the pandemic, me and my team are launching free IT literacy and computer programming courses for people from rural areas of Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan. The goal is to teach young individuals coding skills so that they have the opportunity to apply to remote jobs and start earning money they desperately need to feed their families. The reason why such knowledge cannot be acquired online by these people is that they do not speak any languages besides Kyrgyz. Resources for learning computer programming are nonexistent in Kyrgyz.
