Hi everyone, My name is Salim. We live in northern Nigeria - my whole family of 6. I just graduated school a couple of years ago and things have been really tough. The whole family has been living in a dilapidated rental house for years. We were managing and getting by like that, until a couple of years ago when our financial situation deteriorated from bad to worse. We barely get enough daily feeding. Paying rent became really hard. The owner of the house was good enough to keep extending our due date until he couldn't bare it anymore. He got an eviction order from a local court. Enforcers came and threw all our shit outside in broad daylight. It was horrific. I'm the oldest son. I work. Our father, who is long overdue for retirement works as well, but our jobs do not bring in enough income to sustain us all. We have had a plot of land for more than a decade now which my father has started developing when things were okay, but wor has stopped for many years because our combined income is not enough to complete working on the land and erect a house. Now the whole family is separated; mother and three kids squatting at my maternal grandma's. My dad of over 60 in his mother's house and I'm crashing at the janitor room of my work place. I have followed local politicians tirelessly to see if we can get some kind of relief, but nothing has clicked yet. It's why I decided to look elsewhere, maybe the person that might get us out of this misery is here. We will eternally appreciate your kind donations.
