In Uganda 70% of the population are youth and the majority of them are unemployed.
The main aim of this project is to train the youth on how to grow mushroom in order to become self sustainable, improve the livelihood of the entire community and get out of poverty which is currently the biggest problem in Uganda.
According to our research, Mushroom growing is one of the most profitable ventures in agriculture and in Uganda. So we came up with this project that will not only teach the youth about mushroom growing and value addition but also improve on their health.
Mushrooms have been proven to have high antioxidants that protect body cells from damage that might lead to heart disease and cancer.
They are also a good source of vitamin B with helps to provide energy by breaking down fat, proteins and carbohydrates.
Our target is to reach out to 10,000 youth for now due to finances and working space but we hope to reach out to thousands in the near future because mushrooms are on high demand especially now during this pandemic.
